The Club
Club Rules
Where to find the club’s fishing rules, and a short guide to membership and how the club is run.
Fishing rules
Day-ticket anglers
Day and week tickets, adult and junior, follow the Day Ticket Rules & Map. They cover the River Nidd day-ticket waters and Scar House Reservoir, with separate rules for each. The rules, the map, the tickets and the shops that sell them are on the Day Tickets page.
After fishing, complete the catch return online (opens in a new tab).
Members and season-ticket holders
The detailed fishing rules for members and season-ticket holders will be added here once the club has approved them. In the meantime, please read the Day Ticket Rules & Map and the Health & Safety guide before you fish.
Membership
- Qualification for membership is voting residence within the area of the old Pateley Bridge Union, at the discretion of the Committee. All ages are worked out from 31 March.
- Anglers who live outside that area may fish the club waters as season-ticket holders, at the Committee’s discretion. They have no vote.
- Classes of membership are: Adult members aged 19 and over (with reduced membership at 65 after 10 consecutive years); Associate members, who are juniors up to and including 18; Life members; Honorary members; and Social members, who keep their membership but may not fish.
- Applications go to the Committee. Anyone refused is told why, and may appeal in writing to the General Secretary within 7 days.
Subscriptions and how to apply are on the Membership page.
How the club is run
- The objects of the club are to promote angling for members, to conserve fish stocks, and to preserve and acquire club waters for its members.
- A Committee runs the club: the officers (General Secretary, Treasurer and Membership Secretary), the President, Past Presidents, Vice Presidents, the Hon. Fisheries Advisor, and twelve elected members who serve three-year terms.
- The Annual General Meeting is held in February. Only adult members, officers and Committee members vote.
- The rules can only be changed at an Annual or Extraordinary General Meeting. The by-laws are decided by the Committee.
- A Disciplinary Committee can suspend or expel any member or season-ticket holder who breaks a rule or by-law, or brings the club into disrepute. They may appeal in writing to the General Secretary within 7 days.
